Love Island star Fitzy has described his feelings when he found out Mayo were in the All-Ireland Final.
The Galway footballer was locked away in the villa all summer, missing the majority of the Championship as his county bowed out at the quarter-finals after losing to Dublin at Croke Park.
To make matters worse for Fitzy, if it wasn’t enough that his side went out before he did, his fiercest rivals Mayo have a chance to end their 75-year curse in the All-Ireland Final this Sunday.
The Connacht side are looking to win their first Sam Maguire Cup since 1951 when they face defending champions Kerry at Croke Park. The county are even evoking the memories of that 1951 triumph by wearing the same all-white jerseys they wore on that day.
Speaking on the Paroles Filtre Sans Podcast, Fitzy described his initial reaction when he found out Mayo were in the All-Ireland final.
‘F**kers!’, he said on the podcast. ‘Honestly like. I think when I’d been dumped, one of the worst things was going online and seeing Mayo were in the All-Ireland Final. They’re like our biggest rivals, so seeing them there is just mad.’
After that initial burst of frustration, however, Fitzy then revealed he actually hoped that Galway’s bitterest rivals win the whole thing and end their curse. ‘But they are our neighbours so we do wish them all the best at the end of the day’, he explained. ‘We’d rather them than Kerry, I think, because Kerry win it every year.’
The reality TV star admitted to EXTRA earlier this week that he was shocked by the number of women claiming to be his ex after leaving the villa as his star continues to rise after his stint on the show.
He has stated he will be back on the GAA pitch, saying that he and Lola are hoping to move in together in Dublin.
