Jalen Brunson is giving insight into a potential White House visit from the New York Knicks following their NBA championship.
The NBA Finals MVP shared that a decision has not yet been made on whether the New York Knicks will be taking a flight to Washington DC to visit President Donald Trump at the White House.
“That’s something that we actually haven’t discussed as a team,” Brunson said at Variety’s inaugural Sports & Entertainment Studio in New York. “And so obviously, people are making assumptions and saying everything, but together we haven’t discussed it yet. And so we’ll cross our bridge when we get to it.”

Knicks owner James Dolan accepted the invite from the White House following the team’s championship win.
“He is a friend,” Dolan said during an appearance on WFAN in June. “I’ve known him for 30 years. And I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House.”
Additionally, a spokesperson for the White House told The Athletic at the time, “We have been in touch with the Knicks and look forward to hosting the team at a date to be determined in the near future.”
The last time an NBA team visited the White House was the Boston Celtics in 2024 when President Joe Biden was in office. 2025 NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, declined an invitation to visit the White House, citing timing conflicts.
While it’s uncertain if the Knicks will visit Trump in the White House, other professional teams have during his presidency. Members of the Philadelphia Eagles visited Trump after their Super Bowl 59 win, Inter Miami CF to celebrate their MLS Cup victory, and the Florida Panthers after their Stanley Cup win.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are scheduled to visit the White House on July 23, 2026. However, several Dodgers players have shared they will not be attending.
If the Knicks visit Trump at the White House, they will be the first NBA team under his presidency to attend.
