An Abington Fire Department announcement is drawing attention to a vehicle rollover that temporarily disrupted the South Avenue area on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 21st, when an ice cream truck rolled over near an Interstate 95 off-ramp in Attleboro. According to the department’s statement, crews were sent to South Avenue at about noon after a rollover was reported, and they arrived to find the truck on its side.
The driver was able to get out without assistance before responders reached the scene, Abington Fire Department reported. EMS personnel evaluated the driver for what were described as minor injuries and then transported the driver to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for additional evaluation.
Officials said the response required traffic control and scene safety measures as firefighters and police worked to secure the area and remove the vehicle. One lane of traffic was closed during the operation, and Abington Fire Department noted the roadway was reopened and the scene cleared at approximately 12:40 PM.
The cause of the crash has not been determined. In its announcement, the Abington Fire Department stated that the incident remains under investigation by the Attleboro Police Department.
