Freddie Prinze Jr. is talking about one of his father’s most high-profile relationships.

The I Know What You Did Last Summer actor, 50, talked about his dad Freddie Prinze’s relationship with Pam Grier during an appearance on The Kristian Harloff Show.

The actor began, “My dad had this terrible falling out because they were both in love with Pam Grier.”

He took a moment to emphasize that Grier, now 77, is a beautiful and special woman. He continued, “And for those of you who don’t know, just Google her. She was the most beautiful woman on Earth in the ‘70s, and she’s still one of the most amazing women on the planet.”

“She’s been a mentor to me. Over the years, she’s always looked out for me when I was a young actor and I had questions. She’s somebody who always told me to know my value and to aim high and to remember it’s show business and which word is bigger,” Prinze Jr. noted.

“So she was a big, powerful energy that they both fell in love with, and she wrote about this in her biography, so I’m not telling tales or anything,” he continued. “But she picked my dad and Richard lost his s--t and it messed with him.”

In Nov. 2016, Grier spoke about both men during a conversation with PEOPLE, naming them both as men she “loved deeply.”

“I never wanted to settle for finding a husband in college. There was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Richard Pryor and actor Freddie Prinze. All three of these men I loved deeply, but you can’t always be with the one you love,” she said at the time. “I ended up loving myself more.”

Grier was in a relationship with Prinze when the Chico and the Man star died by apparent suicide at the age of 22 in Jan. 1977. The comedian was reportedly the one to first introduce Grier and Pryor, who would work together in Greased Lightning.

In a 2018 interview on Sway in the Morning, Grier shared, “It broke my heart to see that [Prinze died by suicide] because Freddie didn’t have anybody to talk to. And he didn’t have peers and he was alone and by himself.”

Prinze Jr. recalled that years after his father’s death, Pryor approached him before a stand-up set to tell him how much he thought of the She’s All That actor’s dad.

“And he said, he took my hand. His hand was shaky, man. And like put like chills down my whole spine,” Prinze Jr. told Harloff. “And he said, your father was a motherf-----. But he was a funny motherf-----. And all like the power of my body just dropped. I almost fainted. For real.”
