Hello Kitty and her fellow Sanrio mascot characters are officially making their way to Disney+ in one of the most unexpected crossover cartoons.

Hello Kitty and her kawaii friends are officially heading to Disney+ alongside some of the most popular children's characters of an entire generation.

Young audiences and lifelong Hello Kitty fans alike have just a matter of weeks left to wait before the iconic Sanrio mascot and her adorable friends make their Disney+ premiere in CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends. The hit animated crossover series is currently slated to arrive on Disney+ on Aug. 4, less than eight months after it premiered on YouTube.

CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends offers viewers a variety of singalongs, games, stories, and activities to follow along with throughout each of its roughly three-minute episodes. The series also reimagines CoComelon's JJ and the rest of the cast in the style of classic Sanrio cartoons. As noted by the official announcement, the show "features gentle, rhythmic storytelling that supports social emotional growth, with lessons rooted in kindness, sharing, and cooperation."

Ahead of the release of CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends, CoComelon Senior Creative Executive Nicole Rivera said of the series, "CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends brings together two globally loved brands in a way that feels joyful, meaningful, and developmentally thoughtful for young viewers. By combining music, friendship, and playful learning, the series creates a fresh experience for families while staying true to what makes both CoComelon and Sanrio so special."

Co-founder and co-CEO of Candle Media Kevin Mayer also said of the series , "We're excited to create fresh experiences that blend the heart and humor of CoComelon with Sanrio's beloved characters in ways that will delight families around the world. This is the start of a creative partnership with huge potential, and we can't wait to share more later this year."

Executive Director overseeing character branding at Sanrio Kosuke Hamasaki added, "We are pleased to collaborate with CoComelon to create a joyful learning experience for kids, leveraging each other’s unique expertise in engaging with the audiences. Guided by its vision of 'One World, Connecting Smiles,' Sanrio hopes to spread smiles and happiness further afield to families around the world."

CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends is just one of several major releases that Sanrio fans have enjoyed this year. Back in February, Season 13 of Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventuresmade its debut on the official Hello Kitty and Friends YouTube channel, bringing with it the series debuts of the Little Twin Stars, much to the delight of Sanrio fans around the world.

Hello Kitty is also on track to take center stage in her very first feature film from Warner Bros. Animation, New Line Cinema and FlynnPictureCo., with the latter's founder Beaugh Flynn personally undergoing nearly a decade's worth of negotiations with Sanrio founder Shintaro Tsuji to secure the rights to the project. While details remain tightly under wraps, audiences already know that Hello Kitty is currently slated to arrive in theaters in the U.S. on July 21, 2028.

CoComelon Playdates with Sanrio Friends will be available for streaming on Disney+ beginning Aug. 4.
