He has one condition.

Dogs have unique quirks and qualities just like people do. A routine or a particular way they like things done gives them comfort, even if it makes no sense to us. It's part of life, and they can be a fun part of family traditions.

In this video, we meet a Golden Retriever who has a very specific requirement that his family must do before they can get the car moving. It's non-negotiable and 100% silly. Take a look!

On July 13, 2026, TikToker Blue & Millie Goldens (@marriedgoldens) shared a video of a family car ride that shows Golden Retriever Blue's very unique request.

Blue is so beautiful, such a cute Golden Retriever, but this need he has, for someone to hold his head so he can sleep during a car ride, is hysterical. I'd love to know the story behind why he likes this, and more importantly, how his parents figured out that this is what he needs.

Some comments included, "He is worth it... they all are," "He’s trained you well," "This is the very best part of life," "I thought I was the only one doing the most ridiculous things for my Golden boy. He looks like he’s totally worth it," and "Aww, just look at that beautiful face. He’s so much a happy and contented boy."

How To Keep Your Dog Comfortable When They’re in the Car

Blue looks like the sweetest little dude, and he seems pretty comfortable during his car ride, as long as he's got someone holding up that head of his. It's still a mystery how his parents figured out how to keep him comfortable when he's in the car. But if your pup still struggles, experts say there are some tips you can follow that might make it easier on everyone.

According to the American Kennel Club, you want a car ride to be as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for your pups, and achieving that requires some advanced planning. The first thing is to plan mealtimes so you're ideally taking your dog on a car ride when they haven't just eaten a full meal, or it's been too long since they last ate. This isn't always possible, of course, but it will make a difference if your dog will be in the car for a while.

Exercise will also help make sure they're as tired as possible, so they're more likely to sleep in the car. This, again, is more helpful for longer car rides and not always possible when it's a last-minute need to get in the car and go.

For those everyday car rides or shorter trips, that will work in your favor, according to the American Kennel Club, because the happier those short, pleasant trips are, the better things will be in the longer car rides, too.

Blue seems to be as happy as ever to be in the car, especially when someone's cradling his head. What a sweetheart.
