SONNY CORINTHOS’S PLAN COULD BACKFIRE ON HIM
TL;DR: Sonny Corinthos just struck a secret deal to take down Valentin, but Brick’s real loyalty belongs to Carly, and that could turn Sonny’s whole plan against him.
The Handshake
Sonny Corinthos has never been subtle about wanting Valentin gone, but this time he’s not waiting around for Carly Spencer to come around on her own. The second Carly walked out the door with Donna, Sonny turned straight to Brick and asked him to dig up dirt he could use to neutralize Valentin once and for all.
Brick agreed to look, but he wasn’t shy about the terms. He respects Sonny, but he respects Carly more, and he made it clear he wouldn’t go behind her back to drive Valentin away. Whatever he finds goes straight to Carly first, so she can decide for herself what to do with it. Sonny, desperate to get Valentin out of Carly and Donna’s lives, told him to do whatever was needed anyway, and they shook on it.

A Grudge With Receipts
Sonny’s distrust isn’t coming out of nowhere. Not long ago, he found out Valentin once put Ava up to tampering with his medication, a stunt that could have gotten Sonny seriously hurt. Carly didn’t know Valentin back then and wasn’t ready to hold it against him, but Sonny made his feelings clear: she knows better than to get tangled up with a Cassadine.
Behind Her Back, With a Smile
That history is exactly why Sonny Corinthos isn’t willing to sit back and let Carly figure this one out for herself. When Carly dropped off Donna earlier, Sonny pushed back hard on the idea that Valentin’s world was safe for their daughter, and Carly shut that conversation down fast, telling him to respect her choices in Port Charles and beyond. Sonny nodded along in front of her, then went straight around her the second she was gone.
In his mind, Valentin has already proven what he’s capable of once, and waiting around for Carly to see it too could cost someone their life. That’s the justification Sonny is leaning on, even though it means lying to Carly’s face about backing off while he works the exact angle she asked him not to touch.
The Problem With Sonny’s Plan
Here’s the part Sonny Corinthos doesn’t seem to be factoring in: Brick never actually promised loyalty to him. He promised to bring whatever he digs up to Carly, full stop, which means Sonny has no guarantee the information ever gets used the way he wants it to, or that it stays quiet long enough to matter.
If Brick keeps his word, Carly finds out exactly what Sonny is up to, and probably sooner rather than later. Instead of taking down Valentin, Sonny could end up handing his ex-wife fresh proof that he’s still trying to run her love life from the sidelines, which is not exactly the outcome he’s after.
Loyalty Runs Deeper Than a Handshake
Sonny shook on a deal he can’t actually control. Brick works for whoever earns his trust, and it’s Carly he answers to, not the man who signed his paycheck years ago. If Sonny wanted a fixer who’d bury the truth, he picked the wrong guy for the job.
