Franchise frontman Taylor Sheridan has added yet another major hit to his name, as the Yellowstonecreator's newest action thriller is officially named the most-watched TV show of the season. For almost a decade now, the creator behind the likes of Landman, Tulsa King, and Yellowstone has dominated the small screen, and the popularity surrounding the actor, writer, director, and producer is showing no signs of letting up, as several of his ongoing shows take over the recently revealed top 10s.
Forget Yellowstone, One Dutton Is Putting His Cowboy Skills to the Test
Acting as another Yellowstone sequel alongside the recent neo-western smash hit Dutton Ranch, the action-oriented Marshals follows a returning Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, the youngest son of John Dutton (Kevin Costner). A former US Navy SEAL-turned-rancher-turned-US Marshal.
Picking up around 15 months after the events of the surprisingly divisive Yellowstone series finale, which aired back in December 2024, Marshals gives Sheridan's neo-western sensibilities a far more action-packed flavor than usual, following the younger Dutton as he joins the elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to deliver justice to Montana. Of course, while action may be the order of the day, Marshals is not lacking in the Yellowstone-style familial drama, as Dutton and his team must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence with their duty to their families.
'Marshals' Is the Biggest Show on TV Right Now
While Marshals is now the lowest-ranked show ever from Taylor Sheridan, holding scores of 48% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside just 28% from audiences on the Popcornmeter, the series has clearly made an impact on viewers. The action western drama is now ranked the most-watched show according to Nielsen, with Marshals earning the #1 spot in the "The Top Network TV Shows of 2025-26" charts.
Marshals is the first broadcast series to come out of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone phenomenon, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. The show has accrued 19.3 million viewers on network TV based on the last 35 days, with the Sheridan-Verse series beating the likes of Reacher alternative, Tracker, the crime series High Potential, the gender-flipped legal drama reboot, Matlock, and the popular police procedural Sheriff Country.
As for streaming, Marshals is ranked #5, with the likes of Sheridan's own Landman in at #4, while Netflix dominates thanks to the documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning at #3, the Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson-led crime thriller His & Hers at #2, and Stranger Things in the top spot at #1. The other Yellowstone sequel, Dutton Ranch, is currently ranked #6, which, alongside Marshals, has now been renewed for a second season. No doubt both shows will continue to tower over both network TV and streaming for the foreseeable future while Taylor Sheridan leaves Paramount behind in favor of NBCUniversal.
