That status has endured in the 32 years since it debuted in theaters, and it is not going to be stripped of that title any time soon, as Paramount has committed to giving it a new release that preserves the film at its highest quality.
Paramount Home Entertainment is set to release a new limited edition steelbook for Clear and Present Danger, giving fans another chance to add the classic Ford thriller to their collections. The premium package includes two discs (a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and a standard Blu-ray with a digital copy). It also boasts the original "Behind the Danger" retrospective documentary and theatrical trailers to relive the action-packed previews that compelled audiences to see the movie on the big screen. The artwork features an artistic portrait of Ford as Ryan, blended with a Stars and Stripes design to encapsulate that character's relationship with his country.
The Clear and Present Danger steelbook is scheduled to arrive on the market on Aug. 11, 2026. It is not the first time that the movie has been given a 4K release, which speaks volumes about its everlasting appeal, as studios typically only invest in physical media upgrades for catalog titles with proven, long-term sales potential. It also comes at a peak time for the Jack Ryan franchise, as it is riding the momentum of the newest film, Jack Ryan: Ghost War, following its immense streaming success.
