The action outing is climbing the charts ahead of its new season next month.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan continues to be a franchise force to be reckoned with, and his underrated action thriller series is now climbing the streaming charts ahead of its long-awaited third season. Best known for the neo-noir Western series Yellowstone and its various spin-offs, as well as the crime thriller Tulsa King and the drama series Landman, Sheridan is no stranger to the action thriller genre, with his under-the-radar spy series not only trending in the U.S., but globally.

Taylor Sheridan Fans Have Been Waiting Patiently for the Action Series to Return

Created by Taylor Sheridan, Special Ops: Lioness premiered back in July 2023 and introduced audiences to Oscar-winner Zoe Saldaña as Joe McNamara, a CIA agent in charge of the black ops Lioness team. Inspired by a real-life U.S. Military program, the series follows Joe as she attempts to enlist female operatives, known as "Lionesses," and prevent the next 9/11...all while attempting to balance her personal life with her professional duties as a spy.

Unlike most of Sheridan's shows, the first season of Lioness proved to be divisive among critics and audiences, with the action series landing scores of 54% from the former and a far more impressive 76% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. No doubt thanks to the clout of Taylor Sheridan, Lioness was a massive hit for Paramount, being renewed for a second season which debuted in 2024 and vastly improved on its predecessor, bringing critics and audiences more in line and landing scores of 90% from critics and 73% from audiences.

Alongside Zoe Saldaña, Special Ops: Lioness stars Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, and James Jordan, with Hollywood icons Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman also featuring. Lioness is now climbing the charts ahead of next month's third season, hitting the top 10 on Paramount+ in the United States over the last week, as well as trending in France, Montenegro, and elsewhere.

'Lioness' Season 3 Hits Paramount+ in August

After waiting patiently, the Lioness squad are now back in business, with Season 3 all set to debut on Sunday, Aug. 2, on Paramount+. Bringing back Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña, Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, Emmy nominee Michael Kelly, and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, Lioness Season 3 sees hidden networks, foreign operatives, and personal betrayals collide as Joe (Zoe Saldaña) walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Guided by Kaitlyn (Nicole Kidman) and Westfield (Michael Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.
