Indiana basketball’s foreign trip to Peru for the FISU America Games begins this week and details about the trip have finally been released.
Indiana will begin play on July 21. Here is the full schedule:
Pool Play:July 21 – 6:00 pm ET – vs. Peru
July 23 – 6:00 pm ET vs Virgin Islands
Elimination play will begin on July 25.

Baylor took part as ‘Team USA’ in last year’s FISU America Games and this year it’s Indiana.
Because Indiana is under the ‘USA’ umbrella, expected starting center Samet Yigitoglu will not be available to play, but will be able to travel.
This will be the second-straight offseason trip for Indiana. The Hoosiers went to San Juan, Puerto Rico last August and came away with three wins. The NCAA passed a new rule this offseason allowing for a foreign trip once a year.
Indiana beat Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, 98-64, in an exhibition on Wednesday before heading to Peru this past weekend.
“We want to learn how to win together. We’re going to Peru. We’re going to play some good teams, at least traditionally good teams. We don’t know a lot about them — maybe on paper right now,” DeVries said on Wednesday. “So our goal is to go win the games. And we expect some really good competition.
“I know Baylor, when they went down there last year, they got beat in the final game. I think they had a couple of games maybe in that 8-to-10, 8-to-12 range. We’re going to get challenged, and I want to see how our guys respond. That’s what I love about it.
“It should be a great trip. Unlike some of the trips, we do a little bit more kayaking and all that type of stuff. This will be a little bit more — we’ll try to have a little bit of fun and go hang out together as a group, but we’re going to play five to six games in eight days. So it’s going to be much more about basketball for this trip. I’m excited to see kind of how you’re growth goes along during the course of that week.”
