The Los Angeles Dodgers are the two-time defending World Series champions. With that comes seemingly insurmountable expectations to join elite company in baseball history.
But like all great teams, there always comes a time when someone else dethrones them. That is what former MLB player Jimmy Rollins is saying. He put it out there that the World Series champions will be a National League team, but it just won’t be the Dodgers, per Bleacher Report Walk-Off.
“The World Series winner will be an NL team…and it WON’T be the Dodgers,” he said.

Rollins played in the league from 2000 to 2016. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies from 2000 to 2014, who won the World Series in 2008. In 2015, he played for the Dodgers before closing his career with the Chicago White Sox.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles is rolling along in the National League West Division at 63-38. They are leading the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks by 11.5 games.
However, they are facing several unique challenges. Shohei Ohtani, who’s a heavy favorite for the NL MVP, has been taken out of the pitching rotation due to a knee injury.
Their $240 million slugger, Kyle Tucker, isn’t slugging. He is batting .240 with 82 hits, 7 home runs, and 47 RBIs. Emmet Sheehan is struggling on the mound after giving up six runs and eight hits in a 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
All the while, teams such as the Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, and Atlanta Braves present a strong challenge to the Dodgers’ reign. Each of whom has depth, solid pitching, and an effective offense.
