ESPN’s Ben Solak believes that former Clemson Defensive Tackle Ruke Orhorhoro is set to drastically improve this season. Ruke was a second-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons, where he struggled in his limited playing time. He was traded to Jacksonville this offseason.
Solak believes Ruke is primed for a career resurgence, pointing to an increased snap count with him being among a thin Jacksonville front seven; “Nose tackle DaVon Hamilton and aging veteran Arik Armstead are the only players clearly above Orhorhoro on the depth chart in what figures to be a rotation anyway. If he is freed up to play a penetrating, disrupting style, he should become an important player with the Jags.”
Ruke has always had this problem. He rotated too much at Clemson to really prove himself, and that issue persisted at the NFL level. This should be his first opportunity to contribute on a three-down level, and one can expect vast improvement coming up in 2026.
There are many situations in the NFL where these trades can be make-or-break for players. A lot of the time, it truly does depend on the team you’re going to, the fit, and the freedom you’ll get to grow as a player. Jacksonville is the perfect fit for Ruke.
It really could be a big year for the former Tiger.
