Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts was involved in a scary moment during the team’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. Betts was standing in the on-deck circle with Max Muncy at the plate. Muncy fouled off a pitch that went straight toward Betts. However, the batted ball hit Betts’ helmet and the Dodgers star appeared to be alright.

Although Betts avoided a disaster, it was a frightening moment nonetheless.
Betts dealt with an injury concern earlier this season, so the scare was obviously not ideal. The last thing Betts or the Dodgers want is for the veteran to miss more time.
Overall, Betts has had ups and downs while on the field. The 33-year-old entered the ball game on Wednesday night hitting .234/.296/.426 across 65 games played. He has also recorded 13 home runs. While Betts is not producing at an MVP-caliber level this season, he is still an impactful player. Of course, the Dodgers know his ceiling is still extremely high.
The Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers are currently tied for the best record in the sport, as both teams are 64-38 at the moment. Milwaukee already earned a 4-3 win over the New York Mets on Wednesday. The outcome of the Dodgers and Phillies game will determine which team enters Thursday with the best record in baseball.
Los Angeles is hoping to clinch a series victory on Wednesday as well. The Dodgers and Phillies three-game series is currently tied 1-1. Philadelphia holds a 2-1 lead in Wednesday’s game as of this story’s writing, but there is still plenty of baseball left to be played.
