Max Muncy made history during the Los Angeles Dodgers’ series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.
The star third baseman took Phillies starter Aaron Nola deep in the sixth inning of the contest, launching a two-run home run to break a 3-3 tie and give Los Angeles the 5-3 lead. He needed just one pitch in that at-bat to lift that homer that traveled 415 feet and drove him and Freddie Freeman home.

With that blast, Muncy is now the solo owner of fifth place on the Dodgers franchise’s all-time home runs list.
“Max Muncy is now in sole possession of fifth place in Dodgers franchise history with 229 home runs. Second most since the team moved to LA,” Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic noted via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.
It is the second straight game that Muncy hit a home run. He tied Ron Cey for second place on the Dodgers (Los Angeles) all-time home run list with a dinger off Phillies ace Zack Wheeler on Tuesday.
The three-time All-Star infielder entered Thursday batting .263/.359/.506 with 19 home runs and 45 RBIs. With his homer in the final game of the Phillies series, he’s reached the 20 home-run plateau for the first time since the 2023 campaign. To date, only Shohei Ohtani has hit more balls out of the field among Dodgers players than Muncy. Ohtani has 22 on the season.
Regardless of the Phillies game’s outcome, Muncy will look to sustain his form in the next series against the New York Mets, which begins on Friday.
