The Boston Red Sox are in the midst of a 15-game win streak, their longest since 1948. Interestingly enough, this win streak began when Jaylen Brown was traded from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers.
It truly is just an observation from ClutchPoints Betting on X, but superstition will never be lost on an avid sports fan, especially one from such a storied sports town as Boston. Red Sox fans specifically have been starved of success ever since the Mookie Betts days, so it would come as no surprise if a few of them were saying good riddance to Brown after hearing this statistic.
Meanwhile, although the Red Sox are on an historical heater, they still have plenty of work to do in terms of improving their standing in the division. As of now, they sit at third in the AL East with a record of 52-48, six games back of the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays at 58-42. Their arch-rival New York Yankees are 3.5 games ahead of them in the division at 56-45.
This 15-game stretch has dramatically improved their playoff chances overall. They currently occupy the last wild card spot in the American League, 3.5 games behind the aforementioned Yankees and just one game back of the Cleveland Guardians. With their current pace, it would come as no surprise if they supplanted their New York rivals for the top wild card spot sooner rather than later.
As for Brown, he is likely focusing on having the last laugh against Boston on the hardwood. Maybe Philadelphia Phillies fans can hope their city’s new basketball star can reinvigorate some of that luck he left behind in Boston for the diamond boys in the City of Brotherly Love.
