DESOTO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Multiple DeSoto Parish fire departments and EMS personnel participated in a collaborative live-fire training exercise this week, using an acquired structure to practice real-world firefighting tactics before the building was safely burned.
DeSoto Fire District 8 joined DeSoto Parish Fire District #1, which hosted the event under Chief Magee, along with DeSoto Parish Fire District #2, DeSoto Parish Fire District #5 and DeSoto Parish EMS for the hands-on training session, according to a statement from District 8.
Crews practiced fire attack, ventilation, hose handling and coordinated firefighting tactics in the controlled environment.
Officials said the realistic setting allowed firefighters to build confidence and sharpen critical skills needed for actual emergency incidents. Organizers also emphasized that inter-agency training opportunities strengthen both technical abilities and partnerships between departments.
