Rolando's Super Tacos has been a Southside staple since the 90s, but the business appears to have slowed months after its property went on the market. A new sign outside the taqueria indicates a temporary closure, as its future remains uncertain.
On Tuesday, July 21, MySA visited Rolando's Super Tacos after attempts to reach the taqueria by phone proved fruitless. The business was closed, as it usually is on Tuesdays, but a poster board was taped to the restaurant's front window with a message for customers.
"Valued customers: We apologize for any inconvenience. We will be back soon. God bless us all," the message said. The poster was positioned next to another sign indicating Rolando's was closed, with no other details.
MySA first reported in October 2025 that the Shasta Avenue location of Rolando's Super Tacos was for sale, even though the restaurant was open as usual. At the time, Robert A. Diaz, the real estate agent listing the property, said that their client, presumably the owner of the business, was looking to start a new chapter in their life.
We contacted Diaz once more to inquire about any updates on the property's sale, as a banner with his information was posted on the poles of Rolando's Super Taco's parking lot sign. While we have yet to hear back, the listing for the restaurant is up on White Label Realty's website. It states that only the real estate is for sale, referring to the lot and the building, and excludes furniture, fixtures and equipment.
There is another Rolando's Super Tacos on Hildebrand Avenue that is not connected to the one on the city's Southside. The two businesses operate independently of each other, which MySA confirmed in previous reporting.
