Canyon Lake remains one of the biggest beneficiaries of the surge in rain that struck the Texas Hill Country last week. For the first time in years, the New Braunfels-area lake is almost full after nearly a week of rains and floods. Now anyone wanting to go out on the water is learning some positive news.
Comal County announced on Tuesday, July 21, that four county boat ramps have officially reopened as Canyon Lake records a mean water level of 908.96 feet, according to a county news release. The four county ramps join Ramp 18 at Canyon Park and Ramp 3 at Comal Park as the spots where boating enthusiasts can officially put in.
"Comal County crews have been hard at work clearing debris and overgrown vegetation from area boat ramps, and the county is pleased to welcome the public back out on the water," the news release read.
The Comal County boat ramps now open on Canyon Lake are:
- Ramp 1 at Canyon Lake Village
- Ramp 2 at Canyon Lake Village West
- Ramp 6 at Canyon Lake Hills at Tom Creek
- Ramp 7 at Canyon Lake Hills at Astro Hills
The Comal County boat ramps closed on Canyon Lake are:
- Ramp 5 at Canyon Lake Forest
- Ramp 8 at Canyon Springs Resort
- Camp 11 at Cypress Cove
- Ramp 22 at Canyon Lake Shores
- Ramp 23 at Mystic Shores.
Canyon Lake water levels
As of Tuesday, July 21, Canyon Lake is 99.8% full with a mean water level of 908.83 feet, a nearly 40% increase from one month prior, according to Water Data for Texas.
