A popular show, with David Boreanaz in the lead, is soon coming to Netflix.
Continuing an impressive TV run that began with Buffy the Vampire Slayerin 1997, Boreanaz will headline NBC's upcoming reboot of The Rockford Files in January 2027. He'll play Jim Rockford, putting his spin on the character made famous by James Garner, but the project he led just before will soon reach a wider audience.
What's On Netflix reveals that multiple seasons of SEAL Team will be available to Netflix subscribers in the U.S. starting on August 18. An exact number of seasons is unknown yet, but those details will be confirmed when the streamer announces its list of arrivals for August. SEAL Team's arrival comes as part of a larger licensing deal between Netflix and Paramount Global, which also includes titles such as Mayor of Kingstown and Lawman: Bass Reeves.
SEAL Team was one of Paramount's most reliable action dramas. It began on CBS in September 2017 before moving to the Paramount+ streaming service in November 2021, where it would air for another two seasons. The story focused on the lives of Bravo Team, one of the Navy SEAL units, with Boreanaz playing the role of Jason Hayes for the show's entire run.
Boreanaz was joined by Max Thieriot, known for his runs on Bates Motel and Fire Country, as Clay Spenser. The cast also included Jessica Paré, Neil Brown Jr., A. J. Buckley, Toni Trucks, Judd Lormand, Raffi Barsoumian, Beau Knapp, and Dylan Walsh. SEAL Team was created by Benjamin Cavell, with Spencer Hudnut later serving as showrunner.
Jason Hayes arguably began with some points of comparison with Boreanaz's most famous roles, whether the confident Seeley Booth on Bones or the brooding vamp he portrayed on Buffy and Angel. But as the military drama progresses, especially in the final season of SEAL Team, Hayes demonstrates a kind of vulnerability that does not typically defineBoreanaz's performances.
There is a long runway for audiences to enjoy the journey, in any case. The first three seasons consist of 22 episodes, unheard of in the streaming era and even becoming rare for network dramas. Later seasons get progressively shorter, but SEAL Team has all the components to fit right at home with Netflix's The Night Agent and Man on Fire.
