Costco's returning apple berry pie combines three delicious flavors for summer

Costco's Returning Apple Berry Pie Combines Three Delicious Flavors for Summer

The 'perfectly sweet' apple pie with a berry twist is one we can't get enough of!

Costco members know one of the best stops in the warehouse is the bakery section.

There's always a little something to satisfy whatever you're craving, and the generous portions mean there's plenty to share, or enjoy for a few days if you'd rather keep it all to yourself.

The latest crowd-pleaser at the bakery is a returning pie that's perfect for summer celebrations while also delivering an early slice of fall. With plenty of retailers already rolling out Halloween decorations, its timing couldn't feel more fitting.

The Kirkland Signature Apple Berry Pie puts a twist on the classic apple pie by combining apples with strawberries and raspberries, all tucked inside a flaky pie crust finished with a sprinkle of sugar.

If you typically find yourself struggling to pick between apple, strawberry, or raspberry pie, it’s the ideal choice, bringing all three flavors together in one dessert that's hard to resist.

TheKitchn's food editor summed it up simply: "If you see this pie at your Costco, don't hesitate. Just buy it."

Parade’s writers (and off-the-clock taste-testers) were fully in agreement, calling it “perfectly sweet” and “so good.”

“I feel like apple pie can sometimes be too sweet, and berries can sometimes be too tart, but it hit the right balance,” one expressed.

One shopper on Reddit wrote, "Been eating on one all week. Going back to get another one this weekend."

"OMG!!! it was delish!!!!!" another commented, while someone else added, "I had it and loved it! I only got apple and strawberry out of it. Those are already my 2 favorite pies. It wasn’t too sweet imo."

“Definitely sweet and so good we're on our third!” someone else noted.

Others felt differently, saying the sweetness turned them off, writing, "IMO too sweet (and I like sweet), also tastes mostly of strawberry and apple, no discernable [sic] taste of raspberry despite it being listed as an ingredient."

“Sweet and delicious when served warm, I'm serving it with a sorbet or milder ice cream,” one chimed in, which our Parade editor was fully on board with.

Weighing in at a hefty 76 ounces and priced at $15.99, it's an easy choice for feeding a crowd at summer cookouts, parties, and other seasonal gatherings.

Its return also comes as a cyclosporiasis outbreak, an intestinal illness that can cause diarrhea, nausea, and fatigue, has been reported across 34 states, making baked desserts an appealing option for anyone looking to avoid certain fresh produce.

The CDC believes the outbreak is tied to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms supplied to Taco Bell, but the parasite can spread through contaminated food or water and has been previously linked to foods such as basil, cilantro, stawberries and raspberries.

Because thorough heating is the only way to kill it, the return of Costco's baked Apple Berry Pie comes at the most opportune moment if you want to enjoy your fruits without worry.
