“The Bonneville County Coroner’s Office extends its deepest condolences to Mr. Dorey’s family, friends , and all those affected by this tragic loss,” says Sanchez.

According to a news release from the Idaho State Police, the crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. at milepost 116 on I-15 northbound in Idaho Falls.

Dorey was reportedly running through traffic on I-15, while a 2024 Volvo semi-truck, driven by a 28-year-old man from Manitoba, Canada, was driving northbound, and attempted to avoid Dorey, who was in the road.

The semitruck hit Dorey, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the semitruck was wearing a seatbelt.

The northbound lanes of I-15 were blocked for approximately five hours while emergency responders worked to clear the scene.
