Man killed in Fresno County hit-and-run. CHP found car that may be involved

A 49-year-old man was killed Monday night after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Fresno County.

The collision was reported at 10:19 p.m. at the intersection of Golden State Boulevard and Central Avenue.

California Highway Patrol spokesperson Anthony Daulton said investigators believe the man may have been struck by two vehicles. Initially CHP said the victim was a woman.

Debris found in the roadway is part of the ongoing investigation.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Daulton said investigators are not yet releasing the make or model of the suspect vehicle but confirmed they have a lead in the case.

CHP believe one of the involved vehicles may be a white 2018–2023 Toyota Camry. The vehicle or vehicles fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

In an update Tuesday, CHP said at 11 p.m., the Fresno Police Department responded to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Jensen and Maple Avenues.

The burned vehicle, a white 2008 Infiniti G37, has been recovered by investigators as potential evidence. CHP investigators are working to determine whether the Infiniti was involved in the fatal crash.
