Conesus couple charged with producing child pornography after 170K+ files found

A husband and wife are facing federal child pornography charges after an investigation that began with a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Conesus, N.Y. — A husband and wife are facing federal child pornography charges after an investigation that began with a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Donald Coty, 40, and Megan Coty, 38, both of Conesus, are each charged with production of child pornography, conspiracy to produce child pornography and possession of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York.

Prosecutors said NCMEC received a CyberTip in February after a file containing suspected child pornography was uploaded to Google Photos and a Google Drive account associated with the username "Don Coty." The tip was forwarded to New York State Police, who traced the account to the couple.

Investigators executed a search warrant June 23 at the couple's Marrowback Road home, where they seized 13 electronic devices, including hard drives, laptops, cellphones and USB drives, prosecutors said. One hard drive alone contained approximately 1.3 million image and video files. Investigators have reviewed a portion of those files and identified more than 174,000 containing suspected child pornography, including images and videos depicting two minor victims and the defendants.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact New York State Police at (585) 398-4100 or [email protected].

If convicted of the charges against them, the couple each face a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years.
