Calico Cat Falls for Doberman in Hilarious First Meeting: Watch Their Adorable Encounter!

This cat's instant crush on a handsome Doberman makes for an unforgettable first encounter.

Anyone who doesn’t believe in love at first sight has clearly never witnessed a slinky Calico Cat laying eyes on a massive Doberman for the first time, and instantly deciding that he's the tall furry glass of water they've been looking for all their nine lives.

In this video, that’s exactly what happened. A very sly Calico kitty was instantly smitten with a very large Doberman.

According to this footage, this meeting was the first time this cat ever laid eyes on this dog, and she instantly experienced love at first sight, falling head over paws and tail for this towering canine.

The video doesn’t give much context other than someone brought their dog over to their mom’s house, and for their mom’s cat, sparks instantly started flying romcom-style.

This cat knew exactly what she wanted, too. She looked up at the Doberman with her big eyes and sauntered over to him. Doing her best cat walk, her affection was obvious.

The Doberman seemed less smitten, though. He was a consummate poker player during this encounter. Completely stoic and not giving anything away. He just stared back at this kitty cat, remaining cool as a cucumber the entire time.

Unfortunately, the video didn’t show anything more than this. We don’t know if things truly heated up between them or if this was just one very humorous encounter.

How to Introduce a Cat to a Big Dog Safely

While that was certainly a memorable first encounter, it’s not necessarily the ideal way to introduce cats and dogs to each other.

It’s a good idea to gradually introduce them so that they can become comfortable around each other at their own pace.

For the first few days, it’s a good idea to keep dogs and cats in separate parts of the house before they actually meet for the first time. Otherwise, they could easily become overwhelmed if they are introduced too quickly.

Even after they first see each other, it’s a good idea to maintain a barrier, keeping them physically separated by a gate, for example, so that they cannot physically reach each other.

If all is still going well after that initial visual introduction, then the following week could be a good time to put the dog and the cat in the same room together for the first time. However, it's important that these are still highly controlled interactions.

Just like the Doberman in this video, it’s a good idea to have the dog on a leash during these early same-room interactions. After the dog and cat are fully desensitized to each other, they can start to have looser interactions with lighter supervision.

Introducing dogs and cats in this way may not result in any funny or heartwarming “love at first sight” interactions, but it's a good way to safely introduce them to each other.
