The Milwaukee Brewers just keep on winning, and they remain undefeated in the second half of the 2026 MLB season after getting the job done in their series opener against Freddy Peralta and the New York Mets on Monday night at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Even better for rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt, he got his first-ever home run as a big leaguer in that game, as he helped Milwaukee eke out an 8-3 victory.
Pratt needed just two pitches from Peralta in the third inning to lift one off, taking an 81 mph sweeper from the former Milwaukee ace deep for a 393-foot solo blast that extended the Brewers’ lead to 3-0.
Upon his return to the dugout after his memorable first MLB dinger, the 21-year-old Pratt was hilariously given the silent treatment by his teammates.

Talking to reporters after the game, Pratt gave a confident answer on his thoughts about his wait for his first MLB homer.
“I felt like it’s been about time since Game 1,” Pratt said, via Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. “Finally. But we won, so it’s even better.”
He also opened up about the pressure that came with the search for an MLB tater.
“I mean, obviously I wanted to do it,” Tater shared. “I got close a couple of times. But I didn’t go in there trying to hit it. It was in the back of my head, but I was just trying to hit a fastball. Then I hit a slider and it snuck out.”
Since being called up on June 16, Pratt is batting .267/.356/.360 with a home run, three doubles and a triple. In addition, he has eight RBIs and 12 walks through 28 games.
