Bill Maher lit into people who remain fixated on President Donald Trump‘s personality nearly a decade after he was first elected, Wonderwall.com can report.

The 70-year-old comedian said he no longer lets the 80-year-old Republican’s antics or personal attacks bother him — even after Trump publicly targeted him and, Maher claimed, the Trump administration tried to interfere with his Mark Twain Prize for American Humor honor.

Trump will ‘never’ change

“If at this point 10 years into the Trump situation, you are still obsessing about his personality, my view is that’s on you,” the comedian said on the July 20 episode of his “Club Random” podcast.

The Real Time With Bill Maher host said it’s pointless for people to let Trump affect them so deeply because his personality will never change.

“Should we always be criticizing, as I do, what he actually does while he’s in office? Absolutely,” the HBO star said, acknowledging policy matters are fair game.

“But to keep just focusing on these personality things that we’ve talked about for 10 years, they’re not going to change. That’s who he is. I don’t care when he calls me names now. It’s the way he does it. It’s the way he talks. It’s who he is,” the Emmy Award winner said while speaking to his guest, British comedian Jack Whitehall.

Maher says he’s ‘winning’ by not obsessing over Trump

“I don’t care about your reflecting pool. I don’t care about your ballroom. I don’t care what you do on the [White House] lawn. You can have UFC fights. You can have sheep grazing there like one president did. You can do anything. Pickleball. I don’t give a s*** what you do on the lawn,” Maher said, mentioning some of Trump’s most recent controversial projects.

“And if you’re a person who does, you’re just way too into Donald Trump as the person who controls how you think in life. Everything is about him.

“I’m not going there with you. You know, and I’m winning,” Maher said, adding, “And I’m somebody he attacks personally. And I care less than you do. Your life is all about Donald Trump. Mine isn’t.”

O’Donnell shared how fixation on Trump affected her life

Maher didn’t identify anyone in particular, though several high-profile Trump critics have acknowledged struggling to disconnect from their anger or anxiety about the president.

Rosie O’Donnell moved to Ireland in early 2025 following Trump’s return to the White House.

The former daytime talk-show host and The Flintstones actress said in a December 2025 profile in The New York Times that during Trump’s first term in the White House, she became so consumed with him that she sketched more than 200 portraits of him on her iPad, giving them biting titles like “The Moron,” “Loser” and “Liar.”

Cher said Trump made her ‘sick to my stomach’

Even after moving overseas, O’Donnell said a therapist encouraged her to “detach” and “disconnect” from Trump and stop posting about him on social media for two days — but she only lasted two hours.

“I wish I could say I don’t think about him a lot, but I do,” the A League of Their Own star said.

Cher has similarly acknowledged having a visceral reaction to Trump. “I hate him… No, in my whole life, never,” she told The Guardian in 2020 when asked if she’d ever disliked anyone as much.

A year later, Cher confessed to MSNBC, “I get really sick to my stomach… every time Trump does something, sometimes I just have to stop watching the news because I just get overwhelmed, and I get angry, and I get sick.”
