Angelina Jolie is reportedly focusing on supporting her children’s healing following years of family tension, as another child, Vivienne, has filed to remove Brad Pitt‘s surname.
“Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry. She just wants everyone to heal,” an insider told Page Six. The source added that there is more to the family’s situation than has been disclosed. “If people knew the whole truth they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them. The fact they aren’t speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency.”
Court documents show that Vivienne filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 20 to change her legal name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The filing cites “personal” as the reason for the request.
Vivienne’s decision is the latest in a series of similar moves by Angelina and Brad’s other children amid the former couple’s long-running family dispute. Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in September 2016, and the divorce was finalized in December 2024. They share six children: Maddox (24), Pax (22), Zahara (21), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne (18).
Shiloh dropped her father’s surname after a Los Angeles court approved her request in May 2024. Maddox sought the same legal change in May 2026, though he had already been using the name Maddox Jolie professionally, including in the credits for Couture, where he worked as an assistant director while his mother starred. Zahara submitted her own request in June.
Vivienne signaled the change earlier by being credited as Vivienne Jolie in the May 2024 Playbill for Broadway’s The Outsiders, which she co-produced with her mother. Knox also adopted the name Knox Jolie on his high school diploma after graduating from Fusion Academy in Los Angeles.
Despite ongoing tension with Brad, Pax remains connected to his father’s family. According to a source quoted by Page Six in June, “Pax still has a relationship with his dad’s side of the family and continues to spend time with them. He recently joined his family as they went out to dinner and celebrated his cousin Sydney’s engagement.”
