When it comes to being effortlessly cool, it’s something you have—or you don’t—and Bella Hadid definitely has it. Her Instagram is one of the few celeb accounts I follow religiously, and I’d say it’s thanks to the magic combo of her daily life photo dumps, along with her personal style. Case in point? Her latest post. She’s wearing the Dôen Julia Floral Print Organic Cotton Shift Dress, and this breezy, airy nap dress silhouette has been a major hit this summer, both in this season’s trends and my own closet. Dôen Julia Floral Print Organic Cotton Shift Dress
The Julia Dress by Dôen is Hadid’s exact dress, and from the dainty puff sleeves to the floral print, I’m convinced it’s the ideal summer dress. She paired it with a thick headband to hone in on the whimsy vibes and even wore it off-the-shoulder to prove just how versatile it is. IMHO, Dôen makes the most effortless, whimsical, elevated dresses money can buy. Think: 100 percent cotton, airy, lightweight materials that fit comfortably and lean cool-girl—not trad wife. I have a few of its dresses and they wash well and wear even better. I’d even argue that Hadid’s dress can transition into fall with a pair of tall boots, so it’s a splurge you can feel good about.
Huaqiao Summer Minidress
Amazon gives a great look-for-less with this $30 nap dress that includes smocked detailing, puff sleeves, and all. Like Hadid’s dress, you can also wear it off the shoulders. Shoppers say it “has an expensive look and is not see-through.” A win-win!
Hill House The Scarlett Nap Fit & Flare Mididress
ICYMI: Hill House trademarked the term “nap dress,” and it’s basically an airy dress with an elevated, versatile look that has the comfort of a night gown. Truly what’s not to love? The OG Nap Dress includes a smocked bodice, voluminous skirt, and flutter sleeves, but this newer fit and flare maxi style is very reminiscent of the dress Hadid is wearing.
Rumored Slowtide Minidress
My entire summer closet is comprised of Rumored’s frilly minidresses—and I get compliments galore every time I wear them. This one looks a lot like Hadid’s, even down to the mini hem and puff sleeves, but it’s lined, so it lays nicely and isn’t see-through. It’s such an easy piece to dress up or down, which is why I keep reaching for it. (Just ask my coworkers!)
Old Navy Puff-Sleeve Smocked Mini Swing Dress
Old Navy’s take on the nap dress (with its A-line structure, puff sleeves, and fun prints) is such a good budget-friendly find because you get an of-the-moment silhouette paired with a plaid pattern you can wear now and through the fall. Did I mention it’s $40? I’d wear it right now with jellies, and in a couple months with tall boots.
Madewell The Chateau Minidress
Madewell for the win! The pockets sold me on this eyelet minidress, as well as the 100 cotton construction and easy-to-wear silhouette. It’s a great lookalike for Hadid’s dress, except it comes in a rich solid hue—I’m partial to the inky navy—instead of a bold floral print.
