For years, Miu Miu has had fashion girls stacking their basics. Wearing a tank over a tee over a long-sleeve didn’t mean you were cold; it was proof you were in the know. But recently, the insider trend has gone more mainstream—and seeing Kendall Jenner in it inspired me to finally add the layered look to my wardrobe.
Last week, Jenner wore a black tee over a white one, creating a contrasting hem at the sleeves and neckline. The laidback-cool look is comfortable and easy to wear, but not quite as basic as your typical T-shirt.

This is a trend you can of course DIY; no one is stopping you from wearing two T-shirts together. However, there are a handful of options that give you the look without having to actually wear multiple tops at once in the middle of summer. Edikted Juliette Scoop-Back T-Shirt
During Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale, this Edikted tee is just $25. From the front, this is pretty straightforward: It’s a gray short-sleeve tee on top of a white one. But the back, which scoops low, really elevates the updated basic.
Mega T-Shop Layered Cotton Tee
To get the look for less, you can grab this $14 tee from Amazon. The unisex style is 100 percent cotton and available in four colors, as well as sizes X-Small through 4X-Large.
Zara Double-Layered Strappy Top
IMO, this Zara tank top is the best way to embrace the trend this summer. It’s heatwave-ready and, thanks to a metal detail that cinches one strap, easy to dress up.
Lioness Asymmetric Apex Tee
Lioness’s Apex top has a cool, asymmetrical hem. The shorter side is cropped, so if you’re not looking to show skin, I suggest pairing it with high-waisted bottoms. Personally, I’d opt for trousers; the tee would bring a modern, more effortless feel to the polished pants.
