A video from a Houston Barnes & Noble event featuring pastor Kathryn Krick has gained attention after attendees were seen having intense physical reactions during her book signing. The recently held gathering featured Krick, the founder and lead pastor of Five-Fold Church in Los Angeles, as she promoted her book “Ignite Revival” in front of more than 200 people.
As reported by the Daily Mail, in a clip posted by Krick, the event showed several attendees displaying strong physical reactions while interacting with her. One woman was seen approaching the signing area before beginning to tremble, with others stepping in as she eventually fell to the floor. Other moments from the gathering showed attendees crying, shouting and reacting emotionally as Krick moved through the crowd.
In an Instagram post about the event, she wrote, “Revival broke out in this bookstore!” Krick later expressed her amazement at their reactions, saying, “People were falling out of their seats during the message and encountering God’s love right where they were in such a powerful way…I was left in awe of the tangible love of God that filled the store. Many were set free, some received impartation, and others were touched powerfully by God’s love. Hallelujah!”
Five-Fold Church promotes Christian revival
Five-Fold Church traces its beginnings to 2017, when the ministry started with an outdoor worship night at an overlook in Los Angeles before expanding into a global movement. The exact number of followers connected to the ministry remains unclear, but its online presence has helped spread Krick’s teachings, with over 187,000 on Facebook, 150,000 on Instagram and over 80k on TikTok.
On its official website, Five-Fold Church says its mission is to promote Christian revival around the world by sharing what it describes as the full gospel. The ministry teaches that believers are called to serve as “vessels of God” through practices such as healing, deliverance and helping others experience spiritual freedom.
The church also says it seeks to restore practices it believes were present in the early church, including fivefold ministry, apostles and prophets, while referencing 1 Corinthians 1:27 as part of its teachings. Through this mission, Five-Fold Church says it aims to equip believers, make disciples and expand what it describes as a revival movement.
The revival was described by Krick and attendees as taking place during the book signing, though those claims have not been independently verified. The footage shows attendees’ reactions but does not confirm claims of healing or deliverance.
The reactions seen at the bookstore event can also be viewed through research on group experiences. A 2024 study published in the American Journal of Human Biology examined emotional contagion during a public religious ritual and found that people in shared settings can influence one another’s emotional and physical responses.
