President Donald Trump on Wednesday touted the administration's new "Trump Accounts" investment program, saying millions of children have already enrolled in what he called one of the most significant provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Trump spoke during a rally at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia. His comments aired live on Newsmax and the free Newsmax2 streaming platform.
Trump said the tax-advantaged investment accounts will help children begin building wealth from birth while giving families, employers, and others a way to contribute toward their financial futures.
"Perhaps most consequential of all is the provision in the great, big, beautiful bill that we're celebrating today," Trump said, adding, "It's called the Trump Accounts, and it's hot as a pistol."
Under the program, every eligible newborn receives a $1,000 federal contribution into a tax-advantaged investment account.
Parents, grandparents, employers, and other contributors can add up to $5,000 annually.
"Every American child gets a tax-free investment savings account that can grow over the course of childhood and be used for them when they reach 18 or 21," Trump said.
"Their parents, grandparents, employers and loved ones can contribute up to $5,000 a year," he said.
Trump said the Trump Accounts represent a shift from what he characterized as years of government spending that left younger generations with debt.
"For decades, Washington politicians gave our children absolutely nothing but debt," he said.
"But with the Trump Accounts, we're finally ensuring that every young American gets a great start in life and a really fair shot at the American dream," Trump said.
The president said more than 7 million children have already been enrolled since the program was officially launched July 4.
"We have over 7 million people already," Trump said. "That's great."
Trump said the program has quickly gained momentum.
"The Trump Accounts app ... is now the number one app in all of America," he said.
"In the past 18 days, nearly $1.5 billion has been deposited into the Trump Accounts. Think of that — the money is pouring in, and it's an investment in our future," he said.
Trump encouraged families to enroll eligible children through the program's website, saying, "All you have to do is go to TrumpAccounts.gov and sign your child up for a free investment account today. The child gets a thousand bucks from the government."
Trump also highlighted support for the program from Rick Jackson, the Republican nominee for governor and billionaire healthcare executive, who announced during the event that if elected he would seek to have Georgia match the federal government's $1,000 contribution for every eligible child.
"I want to announce that when I become governor, I'm going to push the state of Georgia to match the federal contribution with another thousand dollars," Jackson said.
"I believe our legislature will approve that," he said, adding, "If they don't, I will personally donate it myself."
