Spencer Jones added, Yankees announce lineup for Wednesday doubleheader opener vs. Pirates

NEW YORK - In the words of Aaron Boone, pack a lunch.

In other words, we'll be here all day - and most of the night - for another split-admission doubleheader at Yankee Stadium, but with an interesting twist.

For the first time as Yankees, not only will Gerrit Cole and Max Fried pitch in the rotation together, but they'll be pitching on the same day.

Also, lefty-hitting Spencer Jones has been summoned from Triple-A to be the Yankees' "27th man'' for the twinbill, and he's in the game one lineup at DH.

Cole (3-5, 3.93) goes in Wednesday's regularly scheduled afternoon game, at 1:05 p.m. against the Pittsburgh Pirates, with fellow right-hander Mitch Keller (6-7, 5.14) on the mound.

In the 7:05 p.m. nightcap, Fried (4-3, 3.21) opposes righty Bubba Chandler (3-8, 4.77).

Instead of throwing his 60-ish pitches at Scranton in a second rehab game, the veteran lefty Fried was summoned for the makeup of Tuesday's rainout.
