Five New Jersey suburbs ranked among America's wealthiest communities in a new national ranking, with one Garden State town making the list for the first time.
Four NJ towns in the New York City metro area — Westfield, Summit, Tenafly and Ridgewood — returned to MoneyLion's annual ranking of America's wealthiest suburbs, while Princeton broke into the top 50 for the first time in 2026.
Scarsdale, New York, ranked No. 1 for the third straight year, while nearby Rye ranked No. 3, giving the New York City metro area two of the nation's three wealthiest suburbs and underscoring the region's dominance in the ranking.

Which NJ suburbs rank among America's wealthiest?
Westfield ranks as New Jersey's wealthiest suburb on list
Westfield ranked No. 30 nationally, making it the highest-ranked New Jersey community on MoneyLion's list. The Union County town reported an average household income of $306,889 and an average home value of about $1.3 million.
The town is home to about 32,600 residents, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Westfield ranked No. 33 in the 2025 ranking.
Summit ranks No. 32 among America's wealthiest suburbs
Summit landed two spots behind Westfield at No. 32 nationally. The Union County city reported an average household income of $306,473 and an average home value of roughly $1.46 million.
The city is home to about 23,300 residents. Summit ranked No. 28 in the 2025 ranking.
Tenafly ranks among America's top 35 wealthiest suburbs
Tenafly came in at No. 33 on the national ranking. The Bergen County borough posted an average household income of $306,119 and an average home value of about $1.33 million.
The borough is home to about 15,200 residents. Tenafly ranked No. 26 in the 2025 ranking.
Princeton joins America's wealthiest suburbs list for first time
Princeton ranked No. 47 nationally and was the only New Jersey community newly added to the ranking in 2026. The Mercer County town reported an average household income of $275,137 and an average home value of about $1.06 million.
The town is home to about 31,500 residents. Princeton did not appear in the 2025 ranking.
Ridgewood rounds out New Jersey's top five wealthiest suburbs
Ridgewood ranked No. 48 nationally, giving Bergen County a second town on the list. The village reported an average household income of $273,185 and an average home value of roughly $1.24 million.
The village is home to about 26,500 residents. Ridgewood ranked No. 41 in the 2025 ranking.

How were America's wealthiest suburbs ranked?
MoneyLion analyzed suburbs with at least 5,000 households using 2024 American Community Survey income data. To qualify, communities had to be part of a metropolitan statistical area but could not be a principal city. Average household income was the primary ranking metric, with Zillow home-value data included for additional context.
