How to Get Shadowbeak in Palworld 1.0 (Location & Breeding Guide)

Shadowbeak is a fantastic Pal to have if you want one that can deal tons of damage in Palworld.

Shadowbeak is one of the most sought-after Dark Pals in Palworld thanks to the ridiculous damage bonus it can get from its Partner Skill. You can find Shadowbeaks flying around No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the protected habitats in Palworldthat you can find just to the north of the desert biome. Shadowbeaks are excellent combat Pals, especially once you've built up a party that can boost its damage output even further through Partner Skills.

Where to Find Shadowbeak in Palworld

Shadowbeaks can be found in No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, which's just off the coast of the desert island to the north. There are no waypoints in the sanctuary itself, but there are numerous waypoints on the shore facing the island. You can use a Water Pal and swim across the sea to reach No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, but I highly recommend using a flying Pal instead so you can more easily escape from the sentinel robots guarding the sanctuary from would-be poachers.

Also, bring a Ring of Mercy when you're trying to get a Shadowbeak (or any other Pal, for that matter). This will let you use your strongest weapons and Pals to lower the Shadowbeak's health without killing it. Make sure to bring high-tier Pal Spheres as well to maximize your odds of catching a Shadowbeak.

Try bringing a Wispaw and hit the Shadowbeak with Pal Spheres from behind. Wispaw will increase the capture rate you get from Back Bonuses.

How to Breed Shadowbeak

If you want to get multiple Shadowbeaks without having to fight and capture more of them, you can breed them at your base instead by putting a male and female Shadowbeak in one of your Breeding Farms. Stock up on cakes, and let the Shadowbeaks do their thing. Eventually, they'll lay an egg that's guaranteed to hatch into a new Shadowbeak after you place it inside an Egg Incubator.

The Ancient Hatchery will let you breed Pals and hatch eggs automatically without having to transfer the eggs to a separate incubator. This is great if you want to get Pals while you're doing something else on the map.

Shadowbeak Stats & Partner Skill

Shadowbeak's Partner Skill is called Modified DNA, which increases the Dark damage dealt by Shadowbeak while you're riding it. This bonus starts at 15%, but once you fully condense a Shadowbeak, this bonus reaches up to 100%. This makes this Pal the perfect combat companion, especially against any Neutral-type enemies. Pair this with a Quivern to further boost your party's Dark damage, and you're pretty much set against most combat encounters (barring ones against Dragon Pals, of course).

Shadowbeak isn't quite as useful as a base Pal, though. The only skill they have is level 2 Gathering, something that many other base Pals have. You're better off using your base Pal slots for more useful Pals like Solenne or Renjishi.

You'll still want to get plenty of Shadowbeaks, though. You're going to need them for the Condensation process, which is required to upgrade Partner Skills.
