Gojo is a fan favorite not only because he's considered the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen, but also because of his charismatic, humorous, and effortlessly likable personality. As the strongest sorcerer of his era, he has mastered abilities that most other sorcerers can barely understand.

Despite his popularity, Gojo has also become one of the series’ most misunderstood characters. A surprising amount of what fans believe about him does not line up with what the anime or manga actually show.

Gojo's Infinity Only Blocks What he Sees as Dangerous

One of the biggest misconceptions about Gojo's Infinity is that he manually decides what to block as attacks come at him in real time. In reality, Infinity is almost always active. Before his awakening, keeping it running for long periods was so mentally draining that Gojo could not maintain it indefinitely, but it was still not something he toggled on and off per threat.

After learning the Reverse Cursed Technique, Gojo automated Infinity by setting it to filter objects based on factors like speed, mass, shape and cursed energy. At the same time, Reverse Cursed Technique also heals the mental strain that comes with keeping Infinity running, which is what allows him to sustain it without burning out.

He can track people, detect threats and sense incoming attacks through the blindfold by reading the Cursed Energy around him. Gojo mainly uses the blindfold to reduce constant sensory overload, and he removes it when he needs to fully focus and use the Six Eyes at maximum efficiency.

Infinity Physically Stops or Blocks Attacks

Gojo Became Megumi's Father Figure When he Took Over as His Legal Guardian

Tonbo wears bandages over his head and eyes with a forehead protector, which closely matches Gojo’s look in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The Kakashi comparison makes sense because of their similar roles, but the visual inspiration points to a different Naruto character.

Gojo had a Comfortable and Privileged Upbringing

Many fans assume Gojo had a comfortable childhood, especially compared to characters like Sukuna, whose past is often seen as far more tragic. Because Gojo’s struggles are not always physical or straightforward, his upbringing is often downplayed or dismissed entirely in fandom discussions.

The manga also references Gojo having a female school-time crush, which makes a strictly gay reading harder to support. No official Jujutsu Kaisen material confirms Gojo as gay, straight or bisexual, so any interpretation remains fanon, rather than canon.
