The Philadelphia Phillies enter the 2026 trade deadline as expected buyers, and with Dave Dombrowski’s history of aggressive dealing, the farm system is once again the likeliest source of ammunition. Shortstop Bryan Rincon, right-hander Ramon Marquez and pitcher Gage Wood stand out as the three prospects most likely to be part of any package Philadelphia assembles this summer.
Bryan Rincon: A Breakout Bat in Reading
With top prospect Aidan Miller still sidelined, Rincon has emerged as one of the strongest position-player trade chips in the system. A sure-handed defender with a 60-grade arm and glove at shortstop, he pairs strong plate discipline with more offensive punch than expected.
Rincon was nearly unstoppable in May, slashing .301/.400/.630 with an 1.030 OPS over 20 games, including 11 extra-base hits and six home runs, all while drawing walks at an 11.8% clip. His slugging has cooled since June 1 to .451, but he has still maintained an excellent .856 OPS over that stretch, and his overall .879 OPS ranks ninth in the Double-A Eastern League. That combination of hit tool, patience and glove work makes him an appealing target for teams looking for controllable middle-infield depth.
Ramon Marquez: The Fast-Moving Riser
While the Phillies have graduated or dealt away several top pitching prospects in recent years, including Andrew Painter reaching rookie eligibility and Mick Abel being sent out in the Jhoan Duran trade, Marquez has quickly become the system’s most intriguing arm still available. Signed for just $10,000 as a 19-year-old international free agent in January 2025, he was already an under-the-radar success story before this season even began
Marquez dominated Single-A to the tune of a 1.86 ERA over six starts, striking out 40.5% of the batters he faced, a performance that earned him a mid-June promotion to High-A Jersey Shore. He hasn’t slowed down since, posting a 2.40 ERA with 20 strikeouts against just six walks over his first three starts at the new level. That kind of swing-and-miss stuff paired with a level-skipping track record makes him one of the more attractive pitching chips Philadelphia could offer.
Gage Wood: The Last Top 100 Piece Left Available
The Phillies currently have three prospects in MLB Pipeline’s Top 100: Miller (No. 29), Wood (No. 53) and international signee Francisco Renteria (No. 94). Miller remains unlikely to move given his back injury and recent procedure, and Renteria, an 17-year-old the Phillies paid $4 million to sign and who has posted a 1.028 OPS in his first 24 professional games, is far too new to the organization to be dealt. That leaves Wood as the lone realistic Top 100 trade candidate
Wood has impressed since jumping straight from Single-A to Double-A in his first full professional season, and his walk rate has actually improved at the higher level, dropping from 11.4% in Clearwater to 8.4% in Reading. He’s posted a solid 3.86 ERA over seven Double-A starts, though he has struggled with the long ball, allowing six home runs in Reading compared to just two over a similar span at Clearwater.
Even so, his strikeout numbers remain elite at both levels, 38.1% in Single-A and 32.7% in Double-A, and there’s a real chance he could help the major-league roster later this year. Still, if the right big-league piece becomes available, Wood profiles as the most logical of Philadelphia’s remaining Top 100 assets to include.
After trading away two Top 100 prospects last season in Mick Abel and Eduardo Tait, the Phillies have shown they’re willing to spend from the farm to win now, and this trio represents the most logical next wave of trade chips if Philadelphia pushes hard for upgrades before the August 3 deadline.
