While acquiring a pitcher like Tarik Skubal would headline any Dodgers trade deadline splash, prospect-focused fans are just as intrigued by what Los Angeles might give up to make a deal happen. The Dodgers’ farm system is stacked with outfield talent, and that logjam is exactly why two names, Zyhir Hope and Charles Davalan, are drawing serious trade attention as the July 31 deadline approaches.
An Outfield Logjam in Los Angeles
It’s no secret the Dodgers have a surplus of outfield prospects, stretching from Triple-A all the way down to Single-A. Kyle Tucker is signed for at least one more season (and possibly three), Andy Pages isn’t yet arbitration-eligible, Teoscar Hernandez is under contract through 2027, and Tommy Edman still occupies a roster spot. Add in Alek Thomas, the Dodgers’ latest reclamation project who was just landed in a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks, and there simply isn’t enough room at Dodger Stadium for three or four outfield prospects to carve out everyday roles anytime soon.
That reality makes the system’s depth a trade chip rather than a long-term luxury, and Hope and Davalan sit near the top of that list.

James Tibbs III, Closest to the Majors
Tibbs has had one of the more unusual journeys in recent draft history. Selected 13th overall by the San Francisco Giants in 2024, he was shipped to the Boston Red Sox that June as part of the Rafael Devers blockbuster, then flipped again six weeks later to the Dodgers alongside Zach Ehrhard in exchange for Dustin May. Two trades in his first full professional season left him “beat down,” by his own admission, but he found his footing once he landed in Los Angeles.
The left-handed-hitting corner outfielder has rewarded the Dodgers’ patience. After closing 2025 with a .900 OPS over his final 36 games at Double-A Tulsa, Tibbs carried that momentum into 2026, posting a scorching line at Triple-A Oklahoma City that included a stretch of hitting .529 with seven home runs in just 35 at-bats. He currently sits at a .293/.412/.555 slash line with 21 home runs, giving him a real chance to be an above-average bat at the next level.
Manager Dave Roberts has openly floated the idea of a big-league debut for Tibbs at some point in 2026, and his combination of MLB-readiness and a crowded depth chart above him, De Paula, Zyhir Hope, Eduardo Quintero, and Mike Sirota all rank ahead of him in most system rankings, makes him the single most obvious trade candidate on the roster. A team searching for a controllable, near-ready outfield bat at the deadline would find plenty to like.
Charles Davalan, Polished Hit Tool, Table-Setter Profile
Davalan brings a different flavor to the trade market. The Dodgers’ 2025 Competitive Balance Round-A pick (41st overall) out of Arkansas, Davalan built his draft reputation as one of the purest hitters in his class, posting a .994 OPS with 14 home runs and a 91% overall contact rate in his lone season with the Razorbacks.
In his first full pro season, Davalan has validated that profile. Across High-A and now higher levels, he’s hit .265 with 13 home runs, 49 RBIs and 15 steals in 289 at-bats, good for an .856 OPS, and his career MiLB line sits at a robust .291/.404/.893. He’s shown a knack for hot streaks, including multiple multi-homer games and stretches where he’s reached base in a dozen-plus consecutive contests. Scouts see a table-setting future center fielder with a 55 hit grade, 55 run grade and enough versatility to also see time at second base.
Both players offer contending teams exactly what rental-driven front offices covet at the deadline: MLB-caliber tools without the long-term investment. With Zach Ehrhard profiling more as a fourth outfielder and Quintero viewed as a potential long-term center fielder the Dodgers are unlikely to part with, Tibbs and Davalan stand out as the two names most likely to be dangled in trade talks as August approaches
