Anime has always been a place for characters who wield enough power to threaten entire planets by themselves. However, no genre has attracted more ridiculously strong protagonists than the isekai genre. Since isekai are meant to be about wish fulfillment, what can satisfy people more than a protagonist that simply can't be beaten.
Over the years, fans have seen it all, from characters that can manipulate the elements to those that can alter reality. Honestly, it can actually get a little confusing, given most of them wield powers that put them at or above the level of the gods. Still, these are the very best of the best.
Cid Kagenou Sought To Surpass The Power Of Atom Bombs
The lead protagonist of Eminence in Shadow, Cid Kagenou wanted nothing more in his old world than to become the most powerful being possible. More than that, he wanted to become more powerful than an atomic bomb. He trained and became a master martial artist and weapon user, but he still couldn't surpass his own limits.
At least, he couldn't until he entered a new world. Now, in the world of Eminence in Shadow, he's acquired all manner of powers tthat have finally made him strong enough to survive an atomic attack. However, in the realm of overpowered isekai characters, he's honestly just scratching the surface.
Ainz Ooal Gown Is The Ultimate Lich Mage
Considering Ainz was leader of one of the most powerful guilds even before YGGDRASIL shut down, watching him overpower everyone in Overlord isn't exactly shocking. When the world of the game transforms into something real, he gradually starts to take it over in the name of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. While he has an array of powerful allies to help him, there really isn't anyone in this new world that's close to wielding the power necessary to stop him.
Since Ainz is a villain protagonist, he wields a ridiculous list of abilities. He has access to everything from standard abilities like flight and elemental manipulation, to more ridiculous powers like limited reality manipulation and creating black holes. It's no surprise he's never even been challenged by his enemies before.
Misumi Makoto Continously Doubled His Power For An Entire Year
Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy's Makoto Misumi was chosen by the gods of his world to travel to an alternate world and protect it from attacks by demons. Once reaching this new world though, he found the vain Goddess there wanted nothing to do with him for being ugly. Instead, he was cast out on his own, and forced to learn how to fend for himself. Fortunately, he was granted a blessing from Tsukuyomi, the God of the Moon, before reaching the new world.
Makoto starts out impressive enough to take down a Superior Dragon, an enemy capable of causing massive destruction to entire armies. He only grows with time, literally doubling his strength for an entire year through his training. He can create pocket dimensions, manipulate the elements, break down everything from weapons to magic, and even attack non-corporeal enemies. He's already on the level of the gods themselves, he simply chooses to live his life in peace instead.
Izayoi Sakamaki Wields Limitless Psychic Abilities
Wielding some incredible telepathic abilities, Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren't They's Izayoi was bored enough in his own world to want to travel to another. So he was happily willing to travel to the Little Garden, where he challenges his own intelligence by playing in the Gift Games. More importantly, each win also helps him to gain more wealth, and learn about the world he's been sent to.
Izayoi's full power isn't shown in the anime, but even the glimpses shown are terrifying, as he's capable of negating the ability of anyone else's powers. That's just the basics of his power though, as he's shown battling enemies that are capable of destroying worlds or even entire solar systems with the strength of his Aurora Pillar technique. He's also capable of surviving the destruction of planets in the middle of his battles, so he can take whatever he dishes out.
Klein Moretti Relies On Mystery Until He Becomes A Great Old One
While Lord of Mysteries is a complex series with an even more complex magic system, it's rewarding for fans willing to stick around figure out how everything works, especially fans that love power scaling. The series lead protagonist, Klein Moretti, starts out as a regular person when he's first sent to an alternate world. Over time, though, as he figures out the rules of the new environment he's transported to, he becomes one of the most powerful characters in anime.
After reaching the level of the Lord of Mysteries, Klein is capable of altering the rules of reality as he sees fit, turning truths into lies and lies into truths. Other reality-altering abilities, like stopping time or nullifying the powers of others, become easy to him. At the highest level, even existence itself can't deny him, and he can't be erased from any possible future.
Flio Gains Multiple Blessings Just By Hitting Level 2
Flio was originally a merchant from another world when he was summoned to the Kingdom of Klyrode. Though he was meant to help save their world, when they analyzed his abilities they found them lacking enough to throw him away. However, in reality he gained both his own blessing and the blessing of the "Hero" the kingdom summoned, resulting in an interesting little wrinkle in his powers.
After beating a single enemy, Flio leveled up and both blessings combined to give him infinite stats. On top of that, he's also able to learn any spell someone attacks him with, and learn every more powerful version in that spell tree. Even the gods of his world don't want to mess with him, mostly because anything they use on him not only wouldn't work, but would make him more powerful as well.
Naofumi Iwatani Gains The Power To Fight Against The Gods
Naofumi Iwatani was one of the four heroes that was brought to another world to protect them from being wiped out by fighting the waves. Wielder of a Shield, Naofumi becomes the Shield Hero, and works to protect the world until he can finally return home. Watching the anime, one might believe that Naofumi has no business being mentioned on the same level as other overpowered isekai protagonists. However, that's cutting short what he accomplishes in the light novel.
Over time, Naofumi gains the power to fight with the gods themselves. To finally stop the waves, he fights and defeats a goddess capable of manipulating a multiverse itself. He gains the power to manipulate and travel through time, and even alter the rules of reality. His Infinity Zero spell can stop even gods from destroying the planet, and his Positive Feedback Reflection can absorb and reflect any opponent's special techniques.
Lufas Maphaal Has Been Able To Even Transport Herself To Other Realities
In the MMO Exgate Online, the Overlord known as Lufas Maphaal was considered the world's unbeatable lass boss that was actually the online avatar of a single player. After allowing the game to defeat him in battle, the player takes on a new role that teleports himself into the real body of Lufas, 200 years into the future. Discovering Lufas' subordinates have gone out of control, the player decides to use Lufas' incredible powers to stop them, and get answers.
Lufas' status as the "unbeatable lass boss" wasn't an exaggeration. At full power, she can wipe out any entity that isn't on the level of a god, and is herself a singularity that exists in every time and on every world. She's shown to manipulate the power of concepts themselves, and has even battled with enemies that have infinite-level powers. If that's not enough, she's actually been shown putting holes in the space-time continuum just to travel to other universes.
Rimuru Tempest Eventually Becomes Strong Enough To Manipulate Creation
Rimuru already starts out incredibly overpowered, wielding the power of the Great Sage Raphael and absorbing the magicules of the Storm Dragon Veldora Tempest. However, Rimuru doesn't stop there, continually growing in strength and making himself more and more powerful. After Tempest Village is attacked, he even elevates himself into a Demon Lord, allowing him to upgrade both himself and Raphael into even more powerful forms.
Yet Rimuru's upgrades don't stop there. The end of the light novel version of Rimuru Tempest sees the character wielding the power of creation itself. He attains true immortality, and can isolate his enemy's immortality by sealing them off within pocket dimensions. It's a long way to go for a slime, and though anime fans will have to wait a while to see him reach this level of strength, even in season four it's obvious he's only going to keep getting stronger. Even his allies are capable of altering the world with just a wave of their hand, after all.

It's a hard pill to swallow, but sometimes the strongest character in a genre just has an absurd hack-level ability that's seemingly impossible to surpass. So it goes with Yogiri Takatou, who's seemingly a normal teenager until he gets teleported into a fantasy world with his class on a field trip. While several members of his class gained powers, Yogiri gained nothing...but doesn't need it, because he has the most powerful ability there is.
Yogiri's true form is the concept of death itself. There isn't actually a fight with him because a fight with him isn't possible, he'll just erase someone from existence. While, in theory, if someone could negate that power he could lose, there's no proof anyone or anything can do that, as he's erased entire gods from existence before. With that in mind, it's difficult to place anyone above him, even the gods that have shown immortality in their universe.
