Escape from Tarkov is entering its first-ever season, and for old and new players, it’s going to feel a little weird since every player has been accustomed to “wipes” or resets before going into a new major patch.
Will the new season wipe your account? Are there new tasks? The story is complete, so what else is there to add? New weapons, bosses, maybe a map? Well, Nikita Buyanov, the game director for Escape from Tarkov, always tweets out bits and pieces of information, sometimes even in a cryptic way.
While some information has already been confirmed in the 2026 roadmap as well, here’s everything confirmed for Season 1, which will be arriving this July 2026.
Separate Seasonal Wipe
For Escape from Tarkov’s Season 1 Kord Breach, it has already been confirmed that there will be a separate realm for players who want to start from scratch, hence another version of a “wipe.” Since it was promised before Tarkov’s big launch that the game would no longer undergo wipes, this is a way to circumvent that initial decision while keeping other players who want to continue their progress intact.
So, when players enter the new season, they’ll go through a profile selection menu with different options such as the new season 1, their old PvP profile (1.0 launch progress), and their PvE profile.
Wipes have been deeply embedded into Tarkov players since the start, so it doesn’t feel right without everyone starting from scratch. I mean, it doesn’t make sense to have a new season with tons of players resetting from scratch while the others who have stacked up millions worth of gear have advantages.
QoL Changes and a More Streamlined Progression System
One of the biggest changes will be the early stages of progression combined with seasonal modifiers. Some weapons, ammo, and key items will be available from traders much earlier; at the same time, traders will unlock a bit earlier for some since the character level requirement has been lowered (you still need the loyalty level up, as this wasn’t mentioned in the changes).
Seasonal modifiers also take effect, which can be categorized into three: Global, negative personal, and positive personal. Global modifiers affect overall game features, while negative and positive personal modifiers affect your character.
A lot of these modifiers are hidden, as Nikita wants to keep things as a surprise for most updates. However, there are some teases for Kord Breach, such as the following:
- No Insurance (global modifier)
- No FiR for Hideouts (global modifier)
- Allergic – Some food, water, and medicine cause an allergic reaction (negative personal)
- Hemophilia – Bleeding chance is increased by 25% (negative personal)
- Osteoporosis – Limb fracture chance is increased by 15%; falling from heights deals 15% more damage. (negative personal)
- Marathon – arm and leg stamina is consumed 10% slower (positive personal)
- Bushborne – walking in vegetation is 50% quieter and slows you down 50% less (positive personal)
- The Tarkov Shooter – bolt-action rifles skill leveling speed is increased by 100%; Bolt-action rifles skills start at level 10 (positive personal)
There are 4 hidden secret global modifiers, 10 secret negative personal modifiers, and 14 secret positive personal modifiers, which are a lot, seeing how some of these are game-changing.
It is worth noting that players choose these personal modifiers themselves.
New Weapons and Attachments
Nikita has been teasing several weapons over the past few weeks, showcasing different gun builds. Some of them look familiar, but it has been confirmed that there are going to be new weapons. Here is a rough compilation of Nikita’s weapon teases for Kord Breach:
Escape from Tarkov’s Kord Breach is going to set the tone for future seasons, and it is going to be interesting how it turns out. Will the players start fresh? Are the modifiers good enough to keep the game fresh and bring that old wipe feeling back? There’s only one way to find out, and it’s coming this July.
