The Wisconsin Badgers have been moving full steam ahead in the 2028 recruiting class and a few players at each position are standing out.
The 2027 recruiting cycle is essentially done for the majority of programs with many waiting to add finishing touches or waiting to see how the early signing period plays out. A lot can still change in the 2027 class, but for the moment the focus shifts to the 2028 class as recruits and coaches have finally been put in contact. Many programs have taken advantage of this time by getting the 2028 class started, including Wisconsin who added a commitment from four-star linebacker Cale Britt.
Britt is the first man on the board in the 2028 class for Wisconsin but more will certainly follow in the near future. While there are targets at each position who could potentially become the next commitment, one of the more intriguing positions has been the defensive line. The Badgers’ staff has a handful of targets but three main recruits have begun to standout from the rest.
Wisconsin Dells (Wis.) DL Hendrix Dawson
Perhaps the most important target along the defensive line in the 2028 class for the Wisconsin Badgers would be the local standout Hendrix Dawson. Considered to be a top player in the state, Dawson already holds a expert prediction to land with the Badgers down the line after developing a strong relationship with the staff during the early portion of the recruiting process.
The 6-foot-3, 265-pound converted tight end is not just one of the most menacing recruits in the state of Wisconsin, but additionally one of the better recruits in the 2028 class. Dawson appears to fully be a Wisconsin Badgers lock at the moment so the real question is whether or not a commitment can be closed before more programs add the recruit to their boards.
Prairie Ridge (Ill.) DL Hunter Mosolino
The Prairie Ridge standout Hunter Mosolino has quietly become one of the more sought after defensive linemen in the Midwest region. Mosolino and Wisconsin crossed paths months ago and the Badgers’ staff invited the recruit to campus for Bucky’s Barbecue last month. Now, Wisconsin and Mosolino plan on connecting for a game-day visit later on in the year.
The only issue, however, is that the Iowa Hawkeyes appear to stand in the way of the Wisconsin Badgers potentially securing a commitment down the line. Iowa offered Mosolino a scholarship back in May which was before programs like Northwestern, Illinois, and Wisconsin did so. Mosolino has already visited the Hawkeyes multiple times and fully expects to return this season for a game.
In the battle for the 6-foot-4, 251-pound defensive lineman, time may actually be on the Badgers’ side as the process is just starting for Mosolino. Wisconsin is not considered to be the leader at the moment and more schools are bound to offer the recruit. A combination of time, persistence, and changes in the recruiting process can propel the Wisconsin Badgers into the lead.
Mount Carmel (Ill.) DL Emmanuel McMoore
The Wisconsin Badgers’ staff and Mount Carmel have a great relationship as the program is often one that Wisconsin scouts heavily each cycle. Perhaps one of the top recruits coming out of the program in the 2028 class who has already landed on the Badgers’ radar would be the talented Emmanuel McMoore.
McMoore is currently not ranked but a handful of offers from programs like Auburn, UConn, Iowa State, and Wisconsin showcase the true potential the recruit has. Wisconsin and Iowa State are the perceived leaders at the moment but the recruitment of McMoore will likely not heat up until the start of the season. More film will produce more offers from the 6-foot-4, 255-pound defender which means the Badgers may look to lock-in a visit sooner rather than later.
