So much of the optimism about the Packers‘ outlook in the 2026 NFL season is centered around quarterback Jordan Love.
Love, still widely viewed as an ascendent star at the most important position in sports, looks to take another step despite a wide receiving corps featuring injury-prone Christian Watson and an unproven Matthew Golden at the top of the depth chart, while playing behind a revamped offensive line.
Time will tell if the Packers made the right call at either pivotal position group around its quarterback.
Jordan Morgan named the Packers’ ‘make-or-break player for 2026’
Over at Pro Football Focus, top NFL analyst Bradley Locker put together a list of the ‘make-or-break’ player for the teams viewed as legitimate contenders in the season ahead, with Jordan Morgan getting the nod for the Packers.
“As a first-round pick in 2024,” Locker writes for PFF. “Morgan played only 186 snaps that year while operating as a backup. That number vaulted to 819 in his second season, seeing time at four offensive line spots. Morgan yielded a 62.0 overall PFF grade, although his 68.8 PFF pass-blocking mark was encouraging.
“With longtime left tackle Rasheed Walker now in Carolina, Morgan will presumably take over as the team’s regular blindside protector for Jordan Love. If the 24-year-old performs admirably, he’ll help render Green Bay as dangerous as it looked before injuries derailed last year. Yet if Morgan experiences a learning curve, it’ll throw more cold water on the team’s adjusted offense — and could dash the Packers’ chances in a tough division.”
Morgan has yet to live up to his first-round billing, but will certainly be playing a more prominent role in 2026 and there’s no better time like the present to reinforce the Packers’ belief that he was worth investing a top pick in, and he may be one of the most vital players on the roster this season.
