According to the director, audiences will understand why Marvel chose not to reveal the role before the film reaches theaters.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Cretton was asked whether keeping Sink’s character a secret risked disappointing fans. He replied, "If people are gonna get mad, I can't control that! I wish everything was a secret." The director went on to explain, "Some people wanna know everything, and some people don't. There are certain people like me - if I know I'm gonna watch a movie, I try not to even watch the trailers."
Cretton further added that audience would likely appreciate the decision once they watched the film. He explained, "But you'll see when you watch the movie that there's a very real reason not to tell people who Sadie Sink is playing. And I don't think you'll get mad at it. I think you'll be like, ‘Oh, I'm glad I didn't know that.'"
The comments come as speculation surrounding Sink’s role continues to escalate. For months, online theories have suggested that the actress could be making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Jean Grey. However, neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures has confirmed those reports.
