In the eyes of most NFL fans, the Philadelphia Eagles are firmly Super Bowl contenders.

The proud winners of Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles still have one of the best rosters in the NFL despite some offseason turnover, and have found a way to parlay an unfortunate offensive season in 2025 into a very exciting new chapter, with Sean Mannion set to run the offense in place of last year’s offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.

And yet, in the opinion of Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr, the Eagles are not one of the 14 teams he believes are realistic Super Bowl contenders. Why? Because Jeff Stoutland stepped down as the team’s offensive line coach.

“While some teams on this list will benefit from a coordinator change, I am taking the Eagles down a notch for the loss of offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland,” Orr wrote. “We’re going to be asking two of the best anchor tackles in franchise history to learn a brand-new running scheme in addition to asking Jalen Hurts to operate without A.J. Brown as a major security blanket. That’s a pass for me at this juncture.”

Now which teams are on Orr’s list? Well, there are a number of obvious squads, like the Los Angeles Rams, the New England Patriots, and the Seattle Seahawks, but then there are teams like the Dallas Cowboys, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars, who could only wish to have the Eagles’ recent playoff success. Will Orr ultimately be proven correct? Statistically speaking, probably, as only one of the NFL’s 32 teams gets to hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season, but to say the Eagles aren’t even a top-14 team in terms of Super Bowl probability is a tough sell, especially when another NFC East team is on the list.
