The Detroit Tigers placed starting pitcher Jack Flaherty on the 15-day injured list due to right flexor inflammation, the team announced Tuesday. Right-handed pitcher Ty Madden was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
The Flaherty roster move comes just a couple of weeks before the trade deadline. It was uncertain if Flaherty would have been available for a potential trade, but his placement on the IL makes a deal far less likely to occur.
