The Buffalo Bills have Super Bowl expectations in Joe Brady’s first year as a head coach. The recipe has not been right to make the Super Bowl in Josh Allen’s tenure, but they gave him a weapon this offseason. The Bills made a trade with the Chicago Bears for DJ Moore, who ESPN’s Jason McCourty says could unlock the offense.
“I love the fact that they’ve added these guys, especially a guy like DJ Moore. Because since Stefon Diggs left the Buffalo Bills, it’s been this ‘Everybody Eats’ mantra and spreading the football around. And it’s gotten them where it’s gotten them, but it hasn’t been good enough.
“A guy like DJ Moore can line [up] on the outside, be able to win, and he’s good with the ball in his hands. You look at some of his numbers last year; it’s his lowest numbers since his rookie year. But it also comes with a lower number of targets. If they can find a way to get the football to him, it’s also going to help a guy like Skyler Bell.”
The Bills drafted Bell in the fourth round out of Connecticut. Both Moore and Bell are listed at 6’0″, so this could be a learning opportunity for the youngster. Brady will also be tasked with unlocking Keon Coleman after a disappointing second season with the Bills.
Allen is a perennial MVP candidate no matter who his receivers are. And just because he didn’t jive with Caleb Williams doesn’t mean that Moore is over the hill. The Bills have Super Bowl aspirations and expectations, so Moore needs to show up to Week 1 ready to be the top receiver in Western New York.
The Bills open the season on the road against the Houston Texans in Week 1. A tough matchup for Moore’s first game with Buffalo.
