If you're looking for a quick getaway without all the fuss of layovers at an overcrowded, big city airport, then you might want to consider flying from an airport in the Rio Grande Valley.
The Valley is home to three major airports - McAllen International Airport in McAllen, Valley International Airport in Harlingen, and Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport in Brownsville. And over the last several years, each has worked hard to expand the variety of nonstop flight routes to destinations both domestic and international. Read on below to see the surprising cities you might be able to fly to directly, no layover lag required.
Nonstop flight routes available at McAllen International Airport
If you're looking for a weekend getaway, Allegiant Air offers daily nonstops to popular tourist destinations, Orlando, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada to and from McAllen International Airport. For something a little more exotic, Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier, Aerus Aerolineas offers nonstops to Monterrey, Mexico.
Business commuters will appreciate daily nonstops to Houston via United Airlines, Austin via Delta Air Lines, and Dallas on American Airlines. Recently, McAllen officials announced that American is also offering daily nonstops to Phoenix, Arizona.

The Minneapolis-based ultra-low-cost carrier offers seasonal nonstops to the Twin Cities at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, as well.
