The NFL offseason is quickly moving forward.
As the new season approaches, the league's teams are ramping up their preparations. Like the Dallas Cowboys, NFC East squads will soon open training camp to get a better look at their rosters.
Here's what you should know about the New York Giants before they begin their camp:
Harbaugh gets a close look at his roster
The Giants are entering a new era under head coach John Harbaugh. The franchise officially hired the former Ravens head coach in January, giving him plenty of time to set up a staff in New York. Now, he'll get a close look at his roster.
In Baltimore, Harbaugh's teams were known for their dominant defenses and run-game-oriented offenses. It'll be interesting to see if Harbaugh tries to build the Giants in that same image. He'll have a young quarterback in Jaxson Dart to work with before the 2026 season begins.
Some familiar faces followed Harbaugh to the Giants
The Giants were busy throughout the offseason adding experienced free agents to their roster. Many of those players had previous connections to Harbaugh.
One of the Giants' biggest signings was that of tight end Isaiah Likely, who joined the team on a three-year deal. Likely was a key weapon in Baltimore's offense in the first part of his NFL career, giving Lamar Jackson an athletic checkdown option. He could be an important weapon for Dart in the Giants' passing attack.
The Giants also signed fullback Patrick Ricard, who was a six-time Pro Bowler with the Ravens. Ricard could help open up some running lanes for Cam Skattebo and other Giants running backs throughout the season.
On special teams, Harbaugh and the Giants landed punter Jordan Stout. The 2025 first-team All-Pro was in Baltimore from 2022-25, and he should be a key player for the Giants' special teams unit.
Other key signings for the Giants: linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, kicker Jason Sanders, wide receiver Darnell Mooney, wide receiver Calvin Austin III and cornerback Greg Newsome II.
How healthy is Skattebo?
Cam Skattebo showed promise for the Giants early in his rookie season, rushing for 410 yards and five touchdowns. His powerful running style carried over from his days at Arizona State when he ran through college defenses. Everything came to a halt for Skattebo when he suffered a serious right leg injury in October.
He seems to be making positive progress from the injury after undergoing surgery. He's even doing backflips at Fanatics events, much to the chagrin of Giants fans everywhere.
Skattebo previously said he'll be ready to play in Week 1 against the Cowboys. Training camp should give him an opportunity to regain his footing in the offense.
Rookies could make some noise early
The Giants are hoping their 2026 rookie class could provide some positive plays early in the new campaign. The team had two top-10 picks in this year's first round, which were used on edge rusher Arvell Reese and offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa.
Reese could line up at multiple spots, including off-ball linebacker. He's an explosive athlete who could disrupt an offense's game plan. The Giants should use their training camp to figure out where Reese can line up to make the biggest impact.
Meanwhile, Mauigoa will line up on an offensive line that has endured some struggles for several seasons. He played right tackle at Miami (FL), but he's shifting to offensive guard in the NFL. He'll look to provide consistency as he looks to protect Dart.
The Giants made seven selections in this year's draft. Second-round cornerback Colton Hood could also be a name to watch in the scheme led by defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson.
