San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama was among the big-name athletes present at Fanatics Fest in New York last week. It was his second time attending the annual event, and he relished the experience once again.
Wembanyama made history by becoming the first participant to go 5-of-5 in the three-point challenge. The Defensive Player of the Year also guested on a football podcast, where he talked about his love for Paris Saint-Germain and football stars Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
He was playfully booed by the crowd. After all, he was back in the enemy’s territory. A kid even asked him to sign the jersey of New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson. The 22-year-old Wembanyama declined with a laugh.

Incidentally, the two-time All-Star was wearing a blue-and-orange cap. Or was he deliberately trolling?
Fans on X had mixed reactions to the amusing moment.
“Showing bro his biggest nightmare is insane,” said @_southy8.
“Why’s he addressing his father by name instead of dad?” joked @Doinks__.
“Wemby was just protecting the integrity of the jersey. Respect to Brunson though,” wrote @jerometoby3.
“Wemby living rent-free in every New Yorker. That’s what happens when a poor franchise like New York finally won a title after 200 years,” commented @LeagueInsiderr.
“Kids don’t understand politics,” added @LobTies.
Wembanyama was a headache for the Knicks in the NBA Finals. The Spurs, however, could not pull it off against the Knicks, losing in five games.
Still, it was likely just a bump in the road for Wembanyama, as he is primed to lead the Spurs to a dynastic run in the years to come.
