“If I were in LeBron James’ shoes, I would choose Miami,” Bosh said. “Where do people go when you’re about to retire or you’re retired? … Still some free agents out there, still the ability to build a team that can compete. But most importantly, the comfort of the family. … Don’t be surprised if we see it again. And it might be the decision 2.0. Who knows?”
Bosh and James played together in Miami for four seasons. Together with Dwyane Wade, they formed a “Big 3” that reached four consecutive finals. They won back-to-back titles before disbanding when James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Miami Heat’s projected lineup with LeBron James
Miami will have one of the best starting units in the league if James signs with the team. Davion Mitchell will start at the one spot, with Andrew Wiggins at shooting guard. The four-time champion can start at small forward and Antetokounmpo at power forward. Bam Adebayo will remain the starting center and anchor the Heat’s interior defense.
Shooting and bench depth will likely be addressed with available free agents. Pat Riley and the front office proved that they can create a lineup around their stars and deliver championships to South Beach.
